🚢 What's Inside the ShipHaus? - Batuan, Bohol | VLOG | REVIEW & RATING

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐

The ShipHaus is one of Bohol's new tourist destinations, which is located along Loay Interior Road,  Poblacion Norte, Batuan. It is a spectacular simulation Hotel and tourist attraction uniquely designed like a ship, with balconies & a nautical-themed interior; thus, the name ShipHaus. It is a house owned by Capt Gaudencio Dumapias, a native from the town of Batuan who became a successful mariner.

The house was opened in late 2011 to local and foreign tourists to showcase the culture of Batuan. One can see the local weavers at work and buy their wares at the souvenir shop. Beside to the house is where the shop located at where the Mariner’s uniforms where tailored.

WATCH THE VLOG

Inside the ShipHaus you will find captain’s cabin, chief mate’s cabin, kitchen, mess hall and others. The workers are all dressed in sailor's uniform. And it is so fulfilling because upon entering the house, you’ll have the chance to dress like a mariner.

At the second floor, you will experience the simulation. Heading to the third floor, there is a roof deck that resembles the front of the ship from which you can imagine looking into the endless ocean while taking some refreshments – juice or coffee. You can also buy some Bohol’s delicacies.  This place is so much fun especially to those who are dreaming of going in a cruise ship for a vacation yet in reality – it is so impossible due to its expensive price. But in ShipHaus, it emulates that feeling of being at the moment. From the beginning, where they welcome you very warmly.

ShipHaus became prominent when it was featured in a favourite TV show. Indeed, bloggers and youtubers also talk about this amazing architecture.  Local tourist guides and travel and tour agencies will be glad to bring you to Shiphaus. It takes around 2 hours travel time to Batuan from the city of Tagbilaran. If you want to go own your own, go to the integrated bus terminal in Dao and catch a bus going to Carmen. Look to your right upon entering the town of Batuan, Bohol.  Meters away from the church you will see the Shiphaus.

This unboxing is extra special for me because it’s my most expensive purchase yet, and I managed to snag it at a significant discount thanks to a good friend. The S8+ originally retailed for PHP 45,990, and buyers had to pre-order it before the official release date. But with a stroke of luck and a great deal, I got mine for only PHP 34,000, saving PHP 12,000 off its original price!

This opportunity came courtesy of my friend William Pombo, who recently renewed his Globe Plan. His upgraded package included the Samsung S8 Plus, and he offered it to me at a much lower price than the market rate. Given how much I’d been eyeing this phone, I couldn’t resist the offer. For someone like me, who appreciates a good deal on tech gadgets, this was a win-win situation!

The unboxing experience itself was nothing short of exciting. As I peeled back the layers of sleek packaging, the first thing that struck me was the S8+'s elegant design. Its edge-to-edge Infinity Display looked stunning, and its lightweight build felt perfect in my hands. As I powered it on, the vibrant AMOLED screen and snappy performance immediately lived up to the hype. Beyond the aesthetics, I was eager to test its features like the improved camera, wireless charging, and water resistance—each a step up from my previous device.
Reflecting on this purchase, I feel that the Samsung S8 Plus is worth every peso spent. It’s not just a phone but a statement piece that combines functionality and style. With its advanced features, it’s the perfect device to keep up with my on-the-go lifestyle and content creation needs. This unboxing marks the beginning of my journey with one of Samsung’s most iconic smartphones, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to share it with you all. Stay tuned for more tech updates, reviews, and personal experiences!

🌳 What To Expect in Bohol's Man-Made Forest?

I grew up in the Province of Bohol; but I’ve never been to this Man-made forest. When I was young, I only saw the beauty of this forest thru the prints of the calendars that we received during Christmas.  Undeniably, because I was young that time, I don’t have any capacity to rent a car nor travel. Unfortunately, I don’t have any resources that moment.  It is too ironic that I had a chance now to visit this place which took me 18 years to reach that dream since I left Bohol and decided to stay in Manila for good. Maybe because I have now the financial freedom to visit any places as I am already working; I never ever deleted this “Man-made Forest” in my bucket list anyway.
Advertisement by Google:

Bilar Man-made Forest is a mahogany forest laying the stretch of a 2KM road located in the border of Loboc and Bilar towns. This forest became a tourist destination due its uniformed-planted trees which is “picture-perfect”.  Indeed, it is really amazing place for all new visitors because you can really feel the rapid change of the temperature once you get in the area. Seemingly you’re abroad because of its cold feeling, green surroundings, and wild ambiance yet the road is very well-maintained.

Noticeably, the 2KM road is essentially clean and it is understandable that there is a third-party exists who cleans the sides of the road regularly. I’m not sure if it is being maintained by Local Government Units or a Private Sector. Also, I’m not totally sure if there is enough lighting system at night which is I think – a requisite since it has crooked road.

During day time, since it became a must visit place, you expect a numerous tourist roaming around and innumerable parked- vehicles which became more challenging on how to take pictures without those. In addition to that, since it is a public road, expect that there will be buses and cars passing by every now and then which is dangerous to the tourist.

My cousins (left) Vitaliano Bastasa, (center) Rosemarie Bastasa and (left) Jonathan Orbuda.

We stayed there for only a span of 30mins to take videos and pictures and had no chance to totally indulge the place because we had to strictly follow our itinerary. But overall, I really love the place despite of having hard time to take perfect shots due to its numerous visitors and cars that defeat the purpose of a “forestry motif shot”. It was my first time to see such place anyway.

WATCH MY VLOG
“Friend ! Ang ganda , parang nasa Twilight Movie, feeling ko vampire ako” , uttered by William Pombo, my travel buddy.

Yeah right, it reminds me even the tentacles of a giant octopus, in the “Lord of the Rings” movie while staring at the protrude roots of the trees. The place is quite mystical and might be creepy during late afternoon onwards since the dense trees and branches extremely stop the light to enter within the vicinity.

🏡 How to Design Ergonomically a Condominium Unit for a Condo-Sharing Lifestyle?

As much as we can, due to an expensive lifestyle in the urban zone, we need to be tactful on how we can lessen our expenses. One of the best tipson how to cut off your monthly bills into 50 percent is to look someone who can shoulder half of your total monthly obligations.  And so, the idea of Condo-Sharing arises and became popular in Metro Manila recently.

Advertisement by Google:
Condo Sharing is a course of action in accepting other parties to live with you in one dwelling, provided that all expenses must be shouldered equally by all dwellers. In this way, whoever is the owner of the property will no longer suffer towards pricey monthly obligations.
Having a roommate is like dating; sometimes successful and sometimes failure. And so you have to be careful in allowing someone to stay with you to avoid misunderstanding in the future. All parties must be informed about all the bills; there should be rules and limits that need to be strictly followed – e.g. accepting visitors.

Moreover, as a host/owner, you also have to consider the design of your condo unit – is it designed ergonomically to accommodate renters?  Or is it comfortable for all both parties.

In this vlog, Archie Sa-onoy will share his “know-how” in designing a unit for a condo-sharing centric dwelling.  He will give us a tour inside his condo unit with a blue painted wall.

Watch the video below.

Truly, the idea of having a roommate is challenging but with Archie, he was able to practice a “since of togetherness” towards his roommate and, simultaneously decreasing his burden from his numerous monthly bills. Great Idea, isn’t it?

📌 How to Go to Tiendesitas, Pasig City and What To Expect There?

Tiendesitas sits on a 30,000 square meter area within Frontera Verde, which houses 12 Maranao architecture-inspired pavilions called "villages." Indigenous materials used in creative ways adorn these villages using chemically-treated cogon grass for roof, old kalesa wheels into chandelier frames to light the restrooms, and duyans (hammock) scattered around to allow shortbreaks amidst frenzied shopping activities. The result is a stylized and unique Filipino architecture. The design of the complex also gives attention to the needs of the disabled and the elderly.

Sizzling Tokwa, perfect as Pultutan.

At night, shoppers can be treated to acoustic and live band performances. There is also an area dedicated to special shows, exhibits, and unique Filipino presentations. Kids and adults can also enjoy riding the kalesa, which goes around Tiendesitas.

Doktor Kwak Kwak please help us.

Doktor Kwak Kwak is a game that children are fond of. You can play it in school, street, and fields. This game is composed of 5 or more players. Actually playing this game with more players will be more challenging. The more challenging the game, it will be more fun. It needs concentration, speed, and strength to play this game.

The mechanics of the game is simple. First, to know who will be DoKtor Kwak Kwak, you can play elimination by “jack en poy” or “bato bato pik” and the loser will be Doktor Kwak Kwak. Next, He will turn back so that other players formed a circle and start to tangled or twisted their bodies and positions in a way of entering under the hands or passing above the hands of co-players while sitting down and keep their hands holding. Then, after they already finished the twisting part, they will call Doktor Kwak Kwak by saying “Doktor Kwak Kwak please help us”. Lastly, he will come and solve or arrange the twisting part. After he arranged it, he will cut by his hand the circle and other players will run. The player who will be caught by the next Doktor Kwak Kwak.

This game can offer us a number of psychological benefits in addition to physical benefits. It can also help us to communicate effectively like in the twisting part of the game. This kind of game is cheaper than playing online games. It can enhance also our self-confidence and develop our mental ability. It can also allow ourselves to have quality time in our friends or capable family member in playing this game together.

    BAGSAK TSINELAS GAME or STARFINISH.

     - Honestly, this game is new to me - you can watch the mechanic in the vlog of Kulas #BecomingFilipino - https://youtu.be/cKf-gX5iGC0

    LUKSONG BAKA.

Loosely translated in English, as “Jump over the Cow.”, is a traditional Filipino game that originated from Bulacan, it involves a minimum of 3 players and a maximum of 10 players. It involves the players jumping over the person called the "Baka", and the main goal of the players is to successfully jump over the "Baka" without touching or falling over him/her.

    How to play luksong baka?

a). At the start of the game, there should be one player that should be called "Taya" (It') or in this game the "Bakang lala" (Cow).

b). The players should avoid contact or falling over the "Baka" player while jumping over.

c). The "Baka" player should start with a bend-down kneeling position (A "Baka" player bends over with his hands placed on his knees).

d). All players are to jump over the "Baka" until all the players have jumped. Once the 1st set of jumping over the "Baka" is done, the "Baka" player's position will slowly rise up after jumping over the "Baka" player.

e). Only the hands of the jumper may touch the back of the person who is bent over. If a player fails to avoid contact or falls over the "Baka", he/she will replace the "Baka" player with a bend-down kneeling position, and the game continues until all players decide to end the game.

    HABULANG BULAG.

    JAK EN POY.

Rock-paper-scissors (or rock, paper, scissors) is a zero-sum hand game usually played between two people, in which each player simultaneously forms one of three shapes with an outstretched hand. These shapes are "rock" (a simple fist), "paper" (a flat hand), and "scissors" (a fist with the index and middle fingers together, forming a V). The game has only two possible outcomes other than a tie: a player who decides to play rock will beat another player who has chosen scissors ("rock crushes scissors") but will lose to one who has played paper ("paper covers rock"); a play of paper will lose to a play of scissors ("scissors cut paper"). If both players choose the same shape, the game is tied and is usually immediately replayed to break the tie. Other names for the game in the English-speaking world include roshambo and other orderings of the three items, sometimes with "rock" being called "stone"

    SIATO.

Siato - a popular Filipino game between two or more players. Two sticks are used to play this game. One is about two feet long, and the other one is about half a foot long. A small hole in the ground is made where the smaller stick will be placed with one end at the bottom and the other end sticking out. The player will hit the smaller stick with the longer one so that the smaller stick flies to the air. At mid-air, the player then hits again the smaller stick with the longer one. This is repeated three times. Whoever hits it to the farthest distance wins the game. As punishment, the loser will be forced to shout the word "siato" without interruption while running back to the original starting place.

It is being supported by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Department of Tourism (DOT) eve if it is run by a private sector.  You can visit the 8.4-hectare (20.7-acre) sanctuary or forest reservation in Corella but the viewing area that can be accessible to all tourists is just one hectare wherein you have to pay for an entrance fee of PHP60 (as of May 2018).

Once you visit, you can expect a reception and souvenir counter, an exhibit area, an audio-visual room, restrooms, and administration offices. Outside is a lounge deck, and nearby a parking lot and you can also see few signages that give you some trivia about tarsier e.g. “Tarsier can only have one baby per year”,  “Tarsier cannot survive in a cage”, and “Tarsier s commit suicide once get stressed due to noise pollution”.

Moving inside the “viewing 10 hectare forest”, you will experience such “green feeling” which visually relaxing seeing those trees and shrubs. The visitor’s guide will then approach you and brings you to where the tarsiers can be viewed. They‘re hiding on the branches of the woody grasses which is unfortunately – it is really difficult to obtain a perfect shot for Instagram. It was actually my first time to visit the place but I already touched and took a picture with a living tarsier way back 2013 in Sagbayan Peak (unfortunately as of May 2018 it is no longer available).

Unlike in Sagbayan Peak back then, tarsiers were confined in a huge cage that gave the feeling of the animals living in the wild forest. But in Corella, the tarsiers are living freely in their natural habitat.

How to go to Corella, Bohol?

Going there is so easy, though I went there via private car but nothing to worry about, it is very accessible.

    Via Public Transport:

From Seaport or Airport get into a tricycle and tell driver to take you to Sikatuna Jeepney Terminal (This is right infront of Island City Mall). Fare is P100.00 per tricycle.

From Sikatuna Jeepney Terminal, get into a Jeepney bound to Sikatuna via Corella. (Just anybody there which jeepney passes by Philippine Tarsier Foundation. )This jeepney drops you off to Philippine Tarsier Foundation. Fare is P17.00. Tell the driver of the jeepney that you are headed to Philippine Tarsier Sanctuary in Corella.

Upon arrival there is a huge signage and rough road, take it and walk for 300 meters to the Research Building where you will pay P60.00 entrance fee and have a guide to show you around the sanctuary and where to see the tarsiers.

Going Back, just take a jeepney headed to Tagbilaran. And yes it is safe to hitch hike here. Fare is P15.00 for jeepney.

    Via Tricycle:

From Airport or seaport or anywhere in Tagbilaran City, take a tricycle and ask driver to take you to Philippine Tarsier Sanctuary in Corella One way is P150 per tricycle, round trip is P500 when driver waits for you.

💪 Anytime Fitness Is Now Serving 24/7 To Its Purple Members In Mandaluyong and Near Cities.

    Advertisement by Google:

With the mission of enriching innumerable lives through better health, convenience, community, and inspiration-driven franchise ownership gym, the leading 24/7 Fitness club in the country named ANYTIME FITNESS brings the access to the fitness enthusiast who are residing in Mandaluyong and its surrounding cities.  This newly-opened purple gym is located at 3rd Floor, The Royal Plaza Commercial Center, 14 Domingo M. Guevara, Mandaluyong, 1550.

Anytime Fitness aims to be the average joe franchise gym where they offer modern facilities for the everyday person; not to over the top nor cheap and industrial. Well, with the amount of PHP2000 per month as a pre-selling price, with free membership and PHP 2500 for the key Fob; I must say that it is quite expensive to those who are living in a bare minimum as to compare sa mga bakal gym na 500-800Php ang monthly.  Inline to another fitness club like Gold’s Gym and Fitness First – medyo affordable naman ang Anytime Fitness.

Actually, I am still a Gold’s gym member until March 2019 but I opted to go to Anytime Fitness because of its 24/7 operation which is in line to my lifestyle na on the go kahit anong oras.  In addition to that, the Gym the I am currently with – is located in Taguig and I really have to allocate time before I go to work  para magpawis  but good thing on newly opened purple establishment , it is just one minute away from my place.

The official opening of the said branch is August 1, 2018 wherein I can now start working out in any time of my convenient time.  Wala ako masyado na expect sa gym nato as sauna is not available – lahat fitness lang .

Ang mahal magpaganda ng katawan BESH!” , yet the important is I can still continue my active lifestyle, mostly  “I am no longer young” , mas mahal ang magkasakit kaysa sa 2k per month na mag-e enjoy din naman ako magpapawis. I love working out to begin with.

Let see Kung maganda ba ang pamamahala and let us also see if ma maintain ba nila ang cleanliness.

    See yah there!
