During's Barbeque and Restaurant - Boni Avenue , Mandaluyong City.

During’s Barbeque and Restaurant is situated along Boni. Avenue, Mandaluyong City - a few steps from Rizal Technological University and before you reach Jollibee. It is located at the right side when you came from EDSA. It is a Filipino-themed restaurant and the majority of the design is made up of Bamboo products and chandelier is made of shell.

The food being served are all Filipino Cuisines. When you arrived at the restaurant, you will be given a menu. It is an “ORDER TO COOK” approach wherein you need to wait for 10-20 min on your table.

Prices are affordable ranges from PHP25 – PHP250 available for single order or group order.

Since it is open and located beside the avenue. It is quite noisy due to the innumerable vehicles passed by. The establishment is also non air-conditioned, and so it is moderately hot.

Verdict:

Foods are delicious especially the PORK SINIGANG. Kangkong and Talong are also recommendable. I just don’t like their BULALO because it taste like NILAGA only. Though prices are affordable.

It is not also advisable to bring your car because parking is not available. Or else, you need to leave your car at 711 and walk to the restaurant area. Good thing with this place - it is accessible.

The ventilation is poor, imagine you are slurping a hot sinigang with your sweat. But since it is a native concept then its fine for me – I love the native plate with banana leaf, it makes me feel at home.

Pork Everlasting - Remarkable Cuisine of Marikina

The first time I tasted this cuisine when I visited Marikina due to my officemate’s invitation.  They prepared us a heavy dinner (when I say heavy  ... meaning too heavy) , and one of the dishes  stood out for me was  they called it “Pork Everlasting”.

I was very interested what the ingredients are and how they made it. But I was not able to ask that time.

Until July 31, 2015 my officemate invites me again – for her birthday celebration. Of course, we requested the presence of the “Pork Everlasting”.

During the celebration, I had a chance to make a small talk to them (cook) about the said cuisine.  The cook said that it can only be found in Marikina City and one of the signature dishes. Moreover, it is always present at every festive table during fiestas and holidays.

It is a Marikina version of meatloaf – wherein meat is the major ingredient mixed with chorizo sausage, eggs, cheese, Olives, red peppers, carrots, boiled eggs for decoration and etcetera ( some were not disclosed).

Truly, the taste of the food gave a distinctive identity that you can find it only in Marikina.  The authenticity and the savory taste is pride of people in Marikina City. It can maybe copied by others but we can still distinguish which is which.

Thanks to RAIZA for the invitation.
