Uugong Park is a park located in Morong Rizal. It is maybe popular for its breath taking view of the rice fields around Morong Rizal but now I dont believe so. "Different kind of birds can be seen here and it’s usually summer spot for families by then". said Dhen Soriano a tourism officer of Morong Rizal.
Dhen uploaded a picture of abandon Park in her facebook account. As per Dhen, during the early 60's-early 80's Uugong park was known for its beautiful waterfalls but it was converted into a resort and no longer using the old falls anymore. It is a private property of owned by Mr. Rafael Pacheco, a famous local and international painter/artist. One of features in this resort were his artworks that make the park more interesting to those who wants to visit.
Moreover, Uugong means echo, which has been derived from the loud echo or sound produced by the strong current flow of the falls but today the waterfalls were dead already.. It was a usual summer picnic location for families and friend, however today visitors are not anymore allowed. It was a quiet place to breathe fresh air and enjoy a three-in-one view of the Uugong falls on one side, Laguna lake on the other, and the town of Morong with its four century-old bell tower. But today, it was totally abandon, full of grass and very visually unpleasant.
Today, the local government are planning for the restoration of the said tourist spot in Morong Rizal. "Sayang kasi" Dhen said.
Uugong falls can be reached by jeepneys and tricycles from the town proper.
