Cry me a River: A Loboc, Bohol Floating Restaurant.

Loboc River was named after the Municipality of Loboc. Loboc is a fourth Class municipality in the province of Bohol, Philippines which has 16,312 populations and it is located 25 kilometers away from the City of Tagbilaran.

Since I grew up in Bohol, with unforgettable experiences like swimming in the river and so on. I have not seen yet this famous placid looking river in Bohol that attracts a lot of tourists. Even when I was a child I already heard this Loboc River then. I was wondering how it looks like. Does it look like a small river that I used to swim in every now and then? Every time before I go to school way back in my grade school, we make sure that we take our baths first. Since we don’t have a commercial water supply we really spent time going to the river just to clean up our bodies, and that’s our daily routine.

Up until I transferred to Manila for schooling. Those curiosities of mine are still on my mind, how Loboc River looks like. Until I was given a chance to Travel Bohol, my Pillar Publication Family planned for a Vacation. Guess What?..... It has been 8 years since I moved from Bohol to Manila without even visiting. So basically it was my first time going back to the place where I grew up. I miss everything!

Reminiscing with Past

“At last, I can now see the River”, I said to myself while we are about to arrive. During that time, I almost cried when a flashback came out from within. OH YEAH!!! The River! It's all about the River!! “ I can now feel the fresh air”, smiled. “ I thought that I can’t experience this anymore, I thought that I can only see these glorifying sceneries through the Calendar pictures and /or the Cyberspace online. But now I am here in Loboc River.

Greener than Green

Riding a small motorized bancas can be chartered for an amount of P650. It includes an “eat all you can” Filipino cuisine buffet and local delicacies while cruising. Floating restaurants will bring you from point A to point B. wherein you can enjoy the music of HARANAS (serenade). Simultaneously you will experience cool green vegetation along the river that will make you relax for the span of your trip. You will also notice some inhabitants along the river who are catching fish, washing their laundry and the best thing that made me cry and reminisce me from my childhood are those children were enjoyed swimming. The Climax of the said cruising is very breathtaking once you reach the BUSAY (falls) of the said river

Aside from agriculture, floating restaurants have become a major business that has contributed to boosting the tourism industry not only of the town but also of the province of Bohol.

The said business was very popular in providing a first-class dining experience onboard floating restaurants. The floating vessels are made up of a covered platform on top of two large outrigger boats which are joined together. The Floating Restaurant can accommodate up to 50 people
